How old will our daughter be when we get her?
A. Since China requires all infants to complete a 6 month stay at the orphanage, the youngest our child will be is 8 months, but she could be up to 12 months depending on when she gets referred. For the first six months of our baby’s life, the Chinese Government will attempt to locate her biological parents or immediate relatives by placing ads in the newspaper. If no one claims her, then she will be considered officially abandoned & will be placed for legal adoption. Once we receive & accept her referral, we will have 3-4 months to complete the rest of the immigration paperwork & arrange for travel.
